Making Reels That Don’t Make You Want to Hide: A Two-Day Workshop 6-7th March

I need to tell you something: I used to hate making Reels.
This workshop exists because so many of us struggle with the same thing: creating video content that feels authentic, not performative and it ‘s sustainable in the day to day life of a content creator.
What We’re Actually Teaching
Kimberly @thelittleplantation and I met a long time ago and we have developed our own unique style of teaching, with the aim to get you to the finish line truly able to work on your own.
Day One is about building your foundation. We’ll start with coffee and focaccia (obviously), and then dive into the art of short Reels and styling for food photography.
Through live demonstrations, you’ll see how styling decisions happen before you ever press record. We’ll work through a two different setup, showing you how colour theory and composition transform simple dishes into something that makes people stop scrolling.
You’ll have time for hands-on practice because watching demonstrations is one thing—doing it yourself, with guidance when you need it, is where the real learning happens.
We stop for lunch and snacks are always available, ask our assistants and they will provide hot drinks.
Day Two is where we put it all together. We’ll walk through creating a complete recipe Reel from start to finish. Not just “here’s how to film”—but the actual thinking process:
- Which moments in your recipe are worth capturing (and which ones aren’t)
- How to create rhythm and peaks that keep people watching
- Camera settings for videography that actually make sense
- Shooting in a sequence that makes editing easier
- Creating effective hooks that grab attention
- Understanding transitions and when slow-motion actually enhances your story
The afternoon is dedicated to Premiere Pro and Kimberly will show you smart and fast editing on phone. You’ll learn how to turn raw footage into something polished—from setting up your project correctly to creating and applying LUTs. And because two days flies by, everyone gets follow-up video lessons to revisit these techniques at home.

Why This Workshop Exists
At our last session, one student told us: “I was scared to come. I thought everyone would be full-blown photographers. How wrong I was!”
Another said: “I literally never post the videos I try to make.” By the end of day two, she’d not only created her first Reel footage but was excited to make more.
